12:21PM - Hi there NCAA College Fans....

Ok, first off, I have to say, I really have NO IDEA what I am doing with this. Hopefully I can actually post and not screw this up. ;)

Hi readers, My name is Cheri Rocha and I have recently opened an online business at www.yourcollegeteamstore.com. I am specializing in NCAA College teams in the C-USA, MAC, WAC, Mountain West, and SunBelt Divisions.

My husband was actually the inspiration for this store. He is an alumni of a C-USA school and was just tired of not being able to find merchandise for his school. You could always find stuff for the "Big Schools", or what would be considered the "popular" ones. So we started doing research and found that there are manufacturers that do make this stuff, but not many who will carry or sell it. So that is where Your College Team Store originated.

We are the typical family of 4, with 2 dogs, and a cat. Both our children are school aged and they really do eat up alot of our free time with all their sports and school activites, but we wanted to find something that we could do to help other "Division 1 School Alumni" or (current students) find the items that they want, without having to search and search for someone who makes or sells it.

As I said before, we just JUST OPENED...but, I am adding new items to every school in the C-USA, MAC, WAC, Mountain West, and SunBelt Divisions as I am able to find them. I will try and add new items as often and possible, and post on here what is new, and any promtions that we have that day/week.

I thank you in advance for taking a moment and clicking on our store link above... Please pass it along to your friends and family. The more people I can direct to the site, the higher I can get on those darn search engines... If you find something you like, and maybe it's not in your school, just let me know.. I will do what I can to find it for you.

Everyone have a safe and Happy Halloween this weekend.

11:45AM - Presenting the real life Spinal Tap!

The King of Pop may be gone, but the KFS will fill the screen of The Little Theatre with the prince consorts of Heavy Metal the weekend of July 17-19 when we present ANVIL! THE STORY OF ANVIL. In the early 1980s, the Canadian band Anvil was the blueprint for other groups like Anthrax, Metallica, and Slayer. While those bands went on to become music titans, Anvil faded into obscurity--so much that decades later, the band’s core members--guitarist Steve "Lips" Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner--work menial day-jobs even as they continue to churn out little-heard records and dream of rock-star success. Director Sacha Gervasi chronicles the duo’s efforts to regain their '80s glory in this funny and touching documentary. Despite the snicker-inducing heavy-metal trappings, this is also a warmly human portrait of two men pursuing their creative passions against Sisyphean odds. Their struggles will ring true to anyone who has felt the pull of the
artist’s life and wondered whether it would ever pay off. In Anvil's case, audiences will be rooting for them to finally make it to the big time.

Showtimes for ANVIL! THE STORY OF ANVIL will be:
Friday, July 17 – 7:00 and 9:30pm
Saturday, July 18 – 4:30, 7:00 and 9:30pm
Sunday, July 19 – 3:00, 5:00 and 7:00pm
Please note the slightly adjusted showtimes for Sunday.
Also, all tickets for this film will be at the conveniently
low price of $5.

I saw flyers in the library for P2Pspot.com.  It's actually pretty cool, It allows WMU students to exchange textbooks on campus and its totally free.  I played around with it for a little bit and I was able to add KCC to my P2Pspot.com network.

11:11PM - HOUSING

Hey all, I've got a 2 bed 1 bath apartment that I need to sublet ASAP. The lease ends December 15th, 2008 and you can renew the lease if you'd like-short term leases are available too. Rent is $610 monthly, but I'd be willing to kick in some money to make it more affordable for anyone. If you're a student and have a 3.0 GPA or higher, you can also get $30 off rent monthly. It includes water, HEAT, gas, trash-all you have to pay is electric which for 2 of us runs $30-50 total monthly. Also, if you'd like cable or internet, you'll have to set that up yourself; if you have a laptop, wireless is generally always available for free. It's a 10-20 minute walk to WMU's campus and there's a bus stop right outside the door that runs 2 times an hour. I'll even be happy to throw in a free TV and a really nice glass dining room table and chair set. No application fee, I work in the office so even if you have bad credit, I'll make sure you get it! If you have questions, please email dana.m.toles@wmich.edu or call 810-580-9932. THANKS ALL!

4:43PM

The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young.  GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed.

The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFEtm campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution

Fill out the survey at:  www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student.

While we greatly appreciate the interest taken in GENIUS by students, staff and faculty at academic institutions outside of the United States, at this time GENIUS is only able to track schools based in the United States.

You can get podcasts of the show there, as well as little thingies posted between shows that may never make it to the WIDR airwaves. There's already an LJ feed set up if you're interested: widrcartoons

Once more WIDR Week is upon us and you have the chance to help keep Radio Evolution alive and kicking in Kalamazoo. I'm sure you guys know all of the reasons there are to donate, so I won't bog you down with them, but I do want to point out that if everyone who listened to WIDR for at least an hour every week gave us a dollar we would have enough to run the station for the whole year. Is an hour of entertainment worth a buck to you?
